Varshini Illam Trust and Amar Seva Sangam Join Hands for Sensory Processing Disorder Training

For over three years, Varshini Illam Trust, a Chennai-based organization dedicated to child development, has been a valued partner of Amar Seva Sangam, working together to enhance early intervention services for children with developmental delays. A key aspect of this collaboration has been the integration of Amar Seva Sangam’s Enabling Inclusion (EI) App into Varshini Illam’s programs, strengthening inclusive practices and improving early identification of developmental challenges.
Building on this strong partnership, we recently conducted an intensive online training series on Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), designed to equip therapists with the knowledge and tools to support children facing sensory challenges.
Understanding Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
Sensory Processing Disorder affects how children perceive and respond to sensory input, influencing their ability to perform daily activities, engage in learning, and interact with their environment.
The training aimed to:
- Deepen participants’ understanding of SPD and its impact on self-care, play, and learning.
- Explore practical intervention strategies for home, school, and therapy settings.
- Foster collaborative learning through case studies and real-world experiences.
A Collaborative Learning Experience
The training was led by Ms. Vimala, an experienced occupational therapist from Amar Seva Sangam, along with guest experts from our organizations. The sessions combined theory with hands-on insights, ensuring participants could apply their learning effectively.
A major highlight was the case study discussions, where therapists from Varshini Illam and Amar Seva Sangam shared their experiences, intervention techniques, and success stories. These interactive sessions promoted cross-learning and multidisciplinary collaboration, emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach in addressing sensory challenges.
Technology and Hands-On Learning for Inclusive Growth
This training is another step forward in our shared mission to create inclusive environments where every child can thrive. By blending digital tools like the EI App with practical training, we empower caregivers and professionals to deliver personalized, effective support for children with developmental needs.
We are grateful for the dedication of Varshini Illam Trust and look forward to continuing this journey together—building stronger, more inclusive communities where every child has the opportunity to succeed.
