World Cerebral Palsy Day: Reaching New Heights Together

At Amar Seva Sangam, we are proud to support and rehabilitate 1600 children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) through our dedicated programs, including Community-Based Rehabilitation, Special School, and Residential Programs. In addition, 480 children with CP have been supported through our 23 partner NGOs and government institutions.

Enabling Inclusion App

Using our innovative Enabling Inclusion® App, organizations continuously monitor and evaluate each child’s progress, ensuring they receive the most effective care tailored to their needs. Progress is measured periodically re-evaluating each child using validated scales include the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) and WeeFIM to ensure the effectiveness of our therapy.

Research and Innovation in Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitation

Our recent research publication titled “Motor development trajectories of children with cerebral palsy in a community-based early intervention program in rural South India   https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0891422224001616 revealed that:

  • Gross motor development significantly improves for children engaged in early intervention services as part of Amar Seva Sangam’s Enabling Inclusion® Program.

  • Developmental trajectories differ in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) compared to high-income countries, highlighting the need for context-specific rehabilitation approaches.

  • Contextual factors play a significant role in the gross motor development of children with CP in rural India.

  • The study suggests that the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) may need adaptation for India and other LMICs to better suit the unique developmental patterns observed. Our findings could guide future adaptations and interventions.
