Impact Stories – Umar

Empowering Children's Rehabilitation Through Our Enabling Inclusion® App – A Success Story!

At Amar Seva Sangam, we are deeply committed to empowering children with disabilities and helping them achieve their potential. We are thrilled to share a heartwarming success story of one of the children in our early intervention program, whose remarkable journey has been supported through our Enabling Inclusion® App.

Umar is a young child with cerebral palsy, who joined our Vasudevanallur home-based early intervention program at just 10 months old. When he enrolled, his motor development was minimal, and he was fully dependent on his mother for daily activities. With the consistent efforts of our physiotherapists, Community Rehabilitation Workers (CRW), and the family, along with the evidence based therapy protocols in our Enabling Inclusion® App, the child has shown significant improvements.

Progress Highlights

Initial Level (May 2022):

* Umar had achieved only head control with no further motor skills like sitting, rolling, or creeping.

* Communication was limited to crying when uncomfortable or hungry.

Therapeutic Support:

* Regular home visits, guidance for parents, and teleconsultations with occupational therapists.

* Focused interventions on gross motor skills and communication development.

Current Status (February 2024):

* Umar now moves indoors independently using bottom shuffling and is attempting to use a child tricycle.

* He can understand familiar speech and uses differentiated sounds to communicate with his family.

Physiotherapy Progress:

* Initial Score (May 2022): 23.10%

* Current Score (February 2024): 32.98%

Wee-FIM (Functional Independence Measure):

* Initial Score (July 2023): 62.04%

* Current Score (February 2024): 73.15%

These improvements reflect the positive impact of our program, facilitated through the Enabling Inclusion® App, which has revolutionized how we monitor, evaluate, and support each child’s journey.
